Arsenal goalkeeper, Petr Cech was early this week named the winner of 2015’s Czech Republic player of the year award, in a voting exercise involving players, coaches and club officials.
The latest win marks the eighth time that the 33 year old is bagging the award since his debut in 2002. Cech first claimed award in 2005, when he played a major role in helping Chelsea win their first English league title in 50 years.
Capping 188 times, Cech beat 2014’s winner, Sparta Prague striker, David Lafata and Hertha Berlin midfielder, Vladimir Darida, who came second and third respectively. Cech began his journey at the Emirates after leaving Chelsea at the end of last season.
