MSETO: What is your real name?
SUCKSYBEAT: My Real Name is Babajide Fred Komolafe.
M: Where did you grow up.
S: I was born in Ibadan,Nigeria to a Christian family.
M: When did you realize you have something for music?
S: I started music when I was very little. I grew up to find myself playing drums. So I developed this by going to a music school part l-time while I was still in high school.
M: What did you study in school?
S: I’m actually a pharmacist. I studied pharmacy at O.O.U ogunstate Nigeria. It’s like in Nigeria most parents want their kids be a doctor,lawyer,pharmacist or engineer. So I had to satisfy them.I knew I would end up doing music coz I’ve been so passionate about music since childhood and I had played instruments in various concerts across the country. *I actually started music production when I was on pharmacy school.
M: Wh0 are some of the Biggest Nigerian Stars have you worked with?
S: I have worked with several Artistes back home in Nigeria especially for the mixing and mastering of songs when I was part of the indomix crew so it’s hard to choose a favorite but I’ll go for the kennis music unity project that brought about 13 different artist together. From the old time music veterans like Sir Shina Peter,Ebenezer obey,Femi Kuti to the new generation artists like Joel,Olamide and lots more.
M: Does You Listen to Kenyan Music? And Who is Your Favorite Kenyan Artiste?
S: Yes of course. I listen to Kenyan Music and I must say that Kenya has lots of talented entertainers…it’s also hard to pick a favorite but I love Sauti Sol’s professionalism and delivery,Elani,Khaligraph jones too.
M: Where do you see yourself in 5yrs?
S: I See MAB Uniting the whole of Africa more via music collaborations across the continent despite the language differences…
M: Who are some of the Producers you look up to let’s say your role models ?
S: Role models are Major lazer. Cobhams. Martin garrix. Don jazzy. Those are the producers I listen to a lot.
M: You Have a Family, Are You Hitched That is ?
S: Family Hitched ?No.
M: What can you say about East African Music?
S: East Africa music is developing rapidly and it has lots of potential musical legends. One good thing about East Africa is that people value good and quality music. I’ve seen the reactions. It’s massive and impressive.
M: Tell us about his project in the Kenya?
S: MAB ( Music Across Borders) in Kenya is targeting to work with various artists across East Africa in collaboration with Artistes from other parts of Africa including Nigeria.
M: Why did you choose Kenya?
S: Why I choose Kenya – Nairobi is the capital of East Africa where everything is happening. Lots of talents here. Lots of motivation and the people are so friendly and welcoming.
M: Tell about your hobbies?
S: My hobbies are listening to music but aside music. I love to travel a lot. Sight see and Meet people. It’s a beautiful world out there . I am also a football fanatic. A fan of Manchester City FC.
M: Last Word to Motivate East African Youths?
S: Last words to motivate the youths – Just keep doing it .There is always room for improvement. Don’t give up on your dreams. stay positive. Everything is Possible.
