Hollywood Kenyan actress, Lupita Nyong’o, felt “really connected” to her onscreen wolf character in the upcoming film, Jungle Book.
The film, which will premiere on April 15, 2016, will star other Hollywood stars including Idris Elba, Scarlett Johansson, Ben Kingsley, Christopher Walken, and Giancarlo Esposito.
Lupita described her character a “protector” and “eternal mother” as she, alongside the other silver screen big wigs posed with their on-screen Jungle Book characters.
“She is the protector, the eternal mother,” Lupita said of her character Raksha, a mother wolf.
“The word Raksha actually means protection in Hindi. I felt really connected to that, wanting to protect a son that isn’t originally hers but one she’s taken for her own.”
Idris portrays the tiger Shere Khan.
“Shere Khan reigns with fear. He terrorises everyone he encounters because he comes from a place of fear,” Idris said.
