On Tuesday the nominees’ list for the 2016 Groove awards was out which saw top Kenyan Gospel acts like Bahati and Willy Paul Being left out.This created an online buzz among many people since they didn’t expect either of them to miss in any of the categories List. So yesterday Mambo Mseto’s Willy Tuva called Mr Andrew Alovi, one of the Groove Awards nomination panelists to get a clear reason why Bahati and Willy Paul Missed in the nomination List.
Mr Andrew Aluvi said that willy Paul and Bahati fans should not complain as such because many big artistes like Ruff-tone and Kanji Mbugua were also not nominated.He also stated that they use four different criteria to choose artists to the nomination list; Godly Character, Music Quality, popularity and the eligibility period. In response to Larry Madowo’s Tweet of the artistes not living the Christian Life, Mr Aluvi said that its God who knows about one’s Christian Life.
Mzazi went ahead to talk to Bahati who said that he was not expecting to be in the 2016 Nominees list because he did not submit himself because he is Focusing on going to another level i.e Africa .On working with secular artistes, Bahati who said he is working for Christ and Claims that it was not one of the reasons he was not nominated were not true.Bahati took the opportunity to thank Groove awards for being part of his current success.
Willy paul also echoed Bahati’s sentiments that Groove awards has helped to provide a good platform to build his music career which he is very grateful . On top of that willy Paul said that Groove awards unites people and helps in shaping the gospel industry .Speaking about the Sauti sol Collabo, willy said that people should listen to the message in the song rather than criticizing.
